Meet The Master Watchmaker From Seiko.

Last month, Master Watchmaker Satoshi Hiraga was specially invited to be present at an exhibition held at Seiko’s VivoCity store. Mr Hiraga has over 27 years of working experience in Seiko. He is one of very few who is ‘Gold Meister’ certified to work on Grand Seiko complications. I was honoured to be given the opportunity to witness this Master Craftsman demonstrate the assembly of a Grand Seiko Hi-beat 36000 movement.

A demo on the elasticity of the balance spring used in the Grand Seiko vs normal Seiko. The spring is pulled to a length of 5mm and released.

The spring on the left did not return to its original state, while the GS spring on the right, did.

Demo on the adjustment of the balance wheel.

 The 60th Anniversary Limited Edition.

These two models of the Presage line are one of the hottest in the collection this year. It’s easy to see why, as both are of excellent value for an in-house chrono, be it the enamel or urushi dial.
