Baselworld 2017 Press Release: TUDOR Heritage Black Bay Chronograph.

Since the presentation in 1970 of the Prince Oysterdate Chronograph, its first chronograph, TUDOR has always produced watches that are closely tied to the world of motorsports. In the same way, since 1954 TUDOR has been constantly improving its professional divers’ watches. The new hybrid Heritage Black Bay Chrono chronograph dares to combine the aquatic heritage represented by the Black Bay family with the queen of the racetrack, the chronograph. Remaining faithful to the Black Bay aesthetic with the famous snowflake hands – a brand signature since 1969 – the Heritage Black Bay Chrono model offers optimum readability against the domed matt black dial. Its sub-counters are hollowed for optimum contrast and a date aperture is positioned at 6 o’clock.
The recognisable characteristics of the Black Bay are preserved in a steel case with a 41-millimetre diameter, fitted with pushers inspired by the first generation of TUDOR chronographs. A fixed bezel in circular satin-brushed steel with engraved tachymetric scale completes the face of this sporty new chronograph.

Press Release: MB&F & L'EPÉE 1839 BASELWORLD 2017: DESTINATION MOON

SINGAPORE, 22 MARCH 2017 - Space isn’t empty, it’s filled by imagination!
Reality sucks! In the 1960s, science fiction had us flying through the air on hoverboards and our imaginations soared, but we ended up with non-hovering boards with wheels on solid ground. Science fiction promised us 3D TV and engineers delivered, but we took one look, felt queasy and out they went. Science fiction filled our imaginations with elegant ovoid-shaped rockets that would fly us to the moon and beyond. Again engineers delivered, but the rockets, although eminently practical, ended up being straight, uninspiring cylinders.

Some things are best left to the imaginations and MB&F’s Destination Moon does just that. It delivers just enough engineering for an eight-day clock looking like an exciting science fiction rocket from the 1960s, but with plentiful empty space allowing our imaginations to fill in the details.

Conceived by MB&F and built by L’Epée 1839, Switzerland’s premier clock maker, Destination Moon is the quintessential torpedo-shaped rocket of childhood dreams. But look more closely and you will see that its minimalistic form is evocative rather than definitive.

Destination Moon is available in 4 limited editions of 50 pieces each in black, green, and blue PVD, plus palladium (silver).

The Hour Glass is proud to be the exclusive retailer of MB&F in Singapore.

F P Journe And The Vagabondage III.

In 2004, F.P. Journe created the Vagabondage I (a jumping hour watch) for Antiquorum’s 30th Anniversary. Three pieces were initially produced for the auction, with proceedings going to charity. Due to requests from customers and collectors, Journe created a limited run of 10 pieces with baguette diamonds and 69 pieces with diamonds. This was then followed by the Vagabondage II (jumping hours & minutes) in 2010.

Francois-Paul Journe met the press at Malmaison by The Hour Glass.
