The Blancpain 2015 collection.

Blancpain played host to customers and watch aficionados in a cosy evening to showcase their latest collection. A skilled craftsman from the Manufacture flew in specially for a series of events. Following are the highlights of the evening!

The venue was a charming colonial bungalow at Mount Pleasure Drive.

Scrumptious food prepared by world renowned Chef Gabriel Serero and Chef Julien Leronxel.

Guests at the event were impressed by the complexity involved in the engravings done by a skillful craftsman from the Blancpain Manufacture.

Tools of the trade.

Since the rebirth of the brand in the 1980s they have made numerous complications and the Calendrier Chinois Traditionnel of one of them. A White grand feu enamel dial that features a 7 day Tradtional Chinese Calendar with Zodiac signs, date and month of the Chinese calendar, indication of the 5 elements, the celestial stems and leap months. Gregorian calendar and moon phases.

If you like simple pieces from Blancpain you may like this understated Villeret Grande Date!

Another piece from the Villeret collection: The Demi-Fuseau Horaire  dual time with day/night indicator at 9 o'clock. The home time is told by a subdial at 12 o'clock. I like this arrangement better than the typical single hour hand on most GMT watches.

The Grande Decoration: A cambered grand feu white enamel dial and a fully decorated movement

Blancpain Monopusher Chronograph with Day/Date/Month and moon phase complications.

Blancpain  Villeret Damasquinee: Hand engraved 18ct red gold-damascened titanium dial (snake). This art of inlaying different metals together to produce intricate patterns requires years of training.

Another beautifully finished movement!

The Fastrider chronograph was first launched in 2011.This year's collection comes in three different coloured dials which was inspired by the ruggedness of the various Ducati Scrambler motorbikes. It has the same design features as the Fastrider Black Shield but the case is made of 316L steel case instead of ceramic. The matte ceramic bezel provides a nice contrast with the brushed case. The case size of 42 mm will wear pretty well on most wrists. It comes with a leather or rubber strap with folding clasp.
