With a history spanning over a hundred years, the art of
watchmaking has been an integral part of the Grönefeld family tradition. In
2008, Brothers Tim and Bart Grönefeld proudly presented the first watch under
their own name: the GTM-06 Tourbillon Minute Repeater. Since then, the brand
has developed into one with multiple award-winning timepieces, such as the Grönefeld
Parallax Tourbillion that was launched last year.
Thanks to Peter Chong from Deployant.com, I recently had the
privilege to meet the Grönefeld brothers and to view the prize-winning watch first-hand.
It was an honour to hear them speak about their brand and share their watchmaking
experience with us.
GPHG 2014 Tourbillon watch prize.
The award winning watch....Gronefeld Parallax Tourbillon that features a flying tourbillon, a very long seconds hand and a single arm on the balance wheel bridge that runs parallel to the seconds hand. The power reserve indicator (72 hours power reserve) is at the 10 o'clock position. Another interesting feature is the "W" and "S" indicator that is used for winding and setting the time. When the crown is depressed to indicate "S", the seconds hands and the tourbillon bridge will simultaneously move to the 12 o'clock position and stop while you set the time.

Wrist shot of this fabulous piece.
The other watch that I got to see for the first time was the One Hertz.
Cal G-02, a beautifully sculpted movement. Look at the captivating layout of the various bridges!
