Singapore, 9 November 2021 – Swiss watch brand, TUDOR, ushers in this festive season as the Official Timekeeper of Orchard Road’s Christmas on a Great Street 2021. In partnership with The Hour Glass and Orchard Road Business Association, TUDOR’s Black Bay in 41mm with burgundy bezel and blue bezel will be projected onto the outer facade of Mandarin Orchard to display a 3-minute animation inspired by the spirit of Christmas. From 1 November onwards, shoppers walking along Singapore’s iconic retail district will get to revel in a 10-minute projection mapping display aimed to spread festive cheer as the nation welcomes the new normal.
In line with the start of year-end festivities, viewers will be greeted with festive glass panels, from ION Orchard, while one of Singapore’s rising stars, and Friend of TUDOR, Yung Raja, wishes them holiday greetings, leading shoppers towards the blank canvas of the outer facade of Mandarin Orchard. At the stroke of 8, a spectacular visual experience awaits to kick-start the festivities right in the heart of Singapore’s shopping district. Among a sea of Christmas baubles, out jumps the TUDOR Black Bay, taking viewers on a short festive inspired animated journey that is unsuspectingly rich in history. Inspired by Orchard Road’s own heritage, TUDOR’s Black Bay line, which debuted in 2012, takes inspiration in close to seven decades of professional diving watches. The projection mapping’s festive European inspired elements, akin to watching a swirling snow globe, will transition to a countdown sequence on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
“Enhancing the beauty of Orchard Road during the year-end festive season, Christmas on a Great Street 2021 is creating a new experience to celebrate the small moments in life. Similar to TUDOR’s #BornToDare spirit, this festive display hopes to digitally reimagine the street’s annual light up,” said Cla Riedi, General Manager of TUDOR Southeast Asia.
Catch TUDOR’s festive projection mapping display from 1 November 2021 to 2 January 2022, from 8.00 pm to 10.30 pm, and from 8.00 pm to 12.36 am on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, to be taken on a short journey into the world of watchmaking this year-end.
