Unlike the other LMs, the lever escapement is hidden under the dial, thus the name Split Escapement. The one of the challenges highlighted by Max was the fabrication of the long balance staff needed for the split configuration. This innovation results in a cleaner-looking dial and the illusion of the balance wheel oscillating (at 2.5Hz) on its own.
MB&F worked of Stephen McDonnell in the movement design. Geneva stripes and hand finished anglage were done on all bridges.

A triple dial design with the time at 12 o'clock, power reserve is at 4 o'clock and the date at 8 o'clock.
