Hands-On: Tudor 2017 collection.

Tudor is riding on the success of the Heritage Black Bay collection and this year the Black Bay Chronograph is added to the series of diving watches. Strictly speaking, it can't be considered as a dive watch because it does not come with a rotating bezel. That aside, it is still a good looking tool watch with a 200m depth rating and a chronograph function. This comes with a date window alongside with the other Black Bay releases this year. It has a 45-mins counter at 3 and running seconds at 9 o'clock with the date at 6 o'clock.

Beating inside the 41mm case is the new Calibre MT5813 that is developed in collaboration with Breitling. Based on Breitling's B01 chronograph movement, it features a robust column wheel and vertical clutch that includes Tudor's silicon balance spring and rotor.

It is available in a leather strap or vintage inspired riveted bracelet. Both options come with an additional fabric strap with buckle.

Another well-received model is the Tudor Black Bay S&G (steel & gold). This two-tone piece is a hit with many collectors we spoke to.

The rotating bezel and crown are made from yellow gold and riveted bracket with gold cap centre-links.

Vintage inspired leather strap option.

Cal MT5612 which is the same Calibre used in the Pelagos and it's fitted with a silicon balance spring and is COSC-certified.

The Tudor Black Bay Steel retains the overall proportions of the Black Bay line. This model features a steel bezel with circular satin-brushed matte finish. The appearance is quite different from the previous red, blue and black bezels in the other collections.

Additional fabric strap made using the Jacquard technique, a traditional method from the Saint-Etienne region of France.

The sporty and elegant Black Bay 41mm. Tudor may have gotten feedback that the 36mm could be little small and thus now we a choice of a slightly bigger watch that will not look out of proportion on a bigger wrist!  The 36mm and 41mm would make a nice couple's watch.

We felt that Tudor is doing pretty well in a slow market for watches because it offers a lot of value in terms of aesthetics, reliable in-house movement and overall quality finish.
